The World is Broken

and it's ending, one way or another.

SCROLL DOWN

The World is Broken

and it's ending, one way or another.

The virus

"It wiped out most of the Outlanders, and a lot of Boomtown too. The edges of the city became slums, and the walls went up to keep them out. Nobody knows where it came from, but people talk. Talk about ghosts in the outlands. Talk about government experiments. Either way, they figured out how to make the medication and you stopped hearing about outbreaks so much."

The Crisis

"Once the virus was under control, there was a reproduction drought. At first, people just couldn't make healthy babies. Then stillbirths skyrocketted. Eventually, people couldn't have babies at all. Maybe it was the virus or maybe the medication, but for about ten years, everyone thought we were just going to die out. The government fixed it, of course. They made it work. The scientists started making the people, and Boomtown started taking our rights."

The Revolutoin

"Six-Gun and his gang fought back. For about five years, they subverted the system and incited a revolution. But the gang found themselves outmatched, and Boomtown's grip kept tightening. The law became a religion and human nature was suppressed as a matter of government policy. You could run, but the outlands offered no better alternative, and Boomtown knew it. The only thing thriving out there was death."

Today, the planet's only city is ruled by the founders' descendants - an invisible elite whose control over the populace has become the status quo. Meanwhile, the Outlanders have passed down stories of the civilization's evils from generation to generation.

now

In a society where Law and logiC have been sanctified, a printer’s apprentice risks indictments of treason and blasphemy to report on an Outlander cult whose leader's vision of a supernatural relic in the government's hands drives them toward the destruction of the city.

Ricky

The Citizen

Ricky

The Citizen

Secretly born outside of Boomtown's controlled population, Ricky's existence is unsanctioned and off the books. He has learned over the course of a tough life in the slums how to listen, learn, and take care of himself. At his home, he has faced Outlander raids and starvation. Working In the city, he continues to face discrimination and a cruel military force.

He romanticizes the times of generations past, when heroes such as the legendary outlaw Six-Gun fought for the good of the people and wonders if such a time can exist again some day. He hopes so, and he hopes that time is now.

Zoie

The Revolutionary

Zoie

The Revolutionary

Like most people in Boomtown, Zoie came from the middle class. Unlike most people, she pursued opportunities that waited beneath her rather than above. In time She became a well-known and well-loved business mogul, developing a reputation for driving a hard bargain and being a true woman of the people. To the lower class, she is practically a saint.

But Boomtown is a dangerous place to be so well-loved, and the government has taken note that some of Zoie's establishments are becoming trading posts for illegal goods and services. Whether she is fostering dissent has become a question the institution is more and more curious to answer.

Hank

Hank

The Savage

Many Outlander tribes have risen and fallen through the years, but none like the one Hank leads - the superstitious cult army of vagabonds who call themselves the Corps. They roam the Outlands searching for other tribes and non-citizens to absorb into their growing army. All are welcome. Those who refuse are put to death.

The Corps is driven toward the destruction of Boomtown, a mission inspired by Hank's interpretation of a vision received ten years earlier by his brother Donnie. His faith in the vision is absolute. He knows their charge is divine. and he will not stop until it is accomplished.
